Finite Difference Time Domain Analysis of Coplanar Transmission Line Circuits and a Post-Gap Waveguide Mounting Structure

Abstract:
The finite difference time domain (FDTD) method is used to calculate the S-parameters for two coplanar line filters intended for use at submillimeter wavelengths. The analysis is compared with experimental measurements made on microwave models of the two filter structures. In addition, the FDTD method is used to determine the embedding impedances of a simple post-gap waveguide mounting structure with a single backshort tuning element. The analysis results are presented as a function of backshort setting and are compared both with experimental measurements and with the results of an established theoretical model of such a mounting structure.
